Fire Magic Aurora A830i 46" Built-In Gas & Charcoal Combo Grill

Most outdoor kitchens make you choose between the convenience of gas and the flavor of charcoal. The Aurora A830i fits both into one 46-inch cutout: a two-burner gas grill on one side and a charcoal grill on the other, each with its own double-walled hood. On a weeknight, light the gas side and have burgers on the table in twenty minutes. On the weekend, build a charcoal fire for a tri-tip or a whole chicken and use the gas side for vegetables and sides.

The gas side

Two cast 304 stainless steel "E" burners, each a quarter-inch thick, put out a combined 50,000 BTU across a 432 sq. in. grate. A lip over the burner ports keeps grease from clogging them. Above the burners, 16-gauge stainless flavor grids vaporize drippings back into smoke and spread the heat evenly. The cooking grids use Fire Magic's Diamond Sear design: wide, flat-topped stainless bars that cover more than half the grate, so food gets real sear marks and small pieces don't fall through. Ignition is by hot surface igniter, so you push the knob, turn the gas and it lights. That needs a standard 120V outlet. Halogen lights inside the hood and back-lit knobs make it easy to cook after dark.

The charcoal side

The charcoal side has 396 sq. in. of cooking area and a crank that raises and lowers the charcoal pan, which is how you control heat on charcoal. Raise the coals right up under the grate to sear, or lower them for gentler indirect heat. A front door lets you add charcoal or wood chunks without lifting the grate. A 26,000 BTU gas igniter lights the charcoal for you, so you don't need a chimney starter or lighter fluid.

Configurations

Choose natural gas or propane. You can also add an infrared searing burner on the left and a rear rotisserie burner with a rotisserie kit. The configuration is set at the factory, so choose the one that matches your gas supply.

Fire Magic publishes a warranty of lifetime coverage on the cast stainless burners, cooking grids and housing, 15 years on valves and manifolds, 5 years on flavor grids and the charcoal grill, 3 years on other components, and 1 year on ignition and electronics.
