Backwoods Smoker G2 Chubby Insulated Vertical Charcoal Smoker
Backwoods Smokers are insulated cabinet smokers, a design competition barbecue teams favor because it holds temperature very steadily and burns little fuel. The G2 Chubby is a larger version of the original Chubby. It's 6 inches deeper so the racks take full-size steam pans and big briskets, with a larger firebox, a bigger water pan and a heat diverter as standard.
The walls have 1 inch of insulation, so outside weather has little effect on the cook. With 6 to 12 lbs of charcoal, it runs 8 to 12 hours at roughly 180–300°F without much attention. The four heavy-gauge nickel-plated racks (22" × 15½") hold about 10–12 slabs of baby back ribs, 4–6 briskets or 4–6 Boston butts. It sits on 3-inch feet that are pre-drilled for optional casters or a stand.
