Masterbuilt ThermoTemp XL 40" Propane Smoker

With a traditional propane smoker, you spend the cook adjusting the valve every time the weather changes. The ThermoTemp XL has a thermostat built into the gas valve, which is unusual. Set a temperature on the dial and a sensor in the cabinet opens or closes the burner to hold it, much like a kitchen oven, with no electricity needed. That makes it a good fit anywhere without an outlet, like a camp, a cabin or the far end of the yard.

Safety features include a valve that shuts off the gas if the flame goes out, and a fuel gauge on the tank so you know whether you have enough propane before an overnight cook. Masterbuilt rates a full tank at up to 57 hours at typical smoking output. A heat diffuser spreads the heat from the 15,750 BTU stainless burner, and the wood chip tray is in the lower door so you can add chips without opening the main chamber.

Four chrome-coated racks hold about 8 pork butts, 8 racks of ribs, 6 turkeys or 16 chickens. A side grease tray, one-hand door latch, and wheels with a handle make it easy to clean and move.
